A Tuscan Adventure

A mistake almost. By accident we ended up staying two full weeks in Tuscany, when usually we were onto our next country within a few days. It was peak season for booking time, so we got what was available. 1 week in Siena, 1 week in Florence; and oh how those weeks went by.
Lucky for us, Italy was going through it's hottest and longest heat wave in 50 years. I'm talking sweat here, legitimate sweat. All day too, not just your occasional break-out. All day, and all of the night. Now, Australia is hot... but usually we fling ourselves into anything deeper than a dish and wetter than mud. In Italy however, we felt compelled to be a little classier than that and set a great example for future Australasian-Tuscan-Travellers.
If you're ambitious, one can obtain temporary shelter under the ginormous slice of pizza you are about to gorge yourself on... or perhaps your waiters  heavy Italian eyebrows will provide solace long enough to finish your mouthful. Anyway, you get the picture... it was not cold in Tuscany.
It was however a cultural and visual sensation.  Electrifying and atmospheric, a complete feast for the human experience of life.
